Reverse Engineering
In many cases, customers need from us to reconstruct details geometry and its production process based on finished items. For example you can imagine, that some of our clients are using devices for which spare parts are no longer produced. If there is any technical documentation, the rest is quite simple – after consulting the drawings with our technologists, a quote is prepared along with the necessary documentation and the production process can be started.
Much more challenging is to reconstruct full documentation of the item/device that the customer is already using (often after many years of work, and heavy weared), or even has been destroyed/completely worn. In that case, we need do desing based on the current state of the details, and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of mechanics, manufacturing processes, metallurgy and many others. In some cases, the best choice is to design everything all over. In other thanks to the support of processes such as:
- 3d scanning,
- rapid prototyping (3d print),
- CAD-CAM support,
- FEM simulations.
It is possible to collect a sufficient amount of data necessary to restore documentation and develop production methods. Although reverse engineering requires high qualifications from staff and specialized equipment and software, but it offers many benefits:
- the ability to revise documentation and introduce some improvements and changes to the structure,
- in most cases the method is much cheaper and faster then re-designing and testing.
