Reverse engineering
In many cases, we need to reconstruct full documentation of the item/device that the customer is already using (often after many years of work, and heavy weared), for this we need do desing based on the current state of the details, and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of mechanics, manufacturing processes, metallurgy and many others.
Sometimes, the best choice is to design everything all over again using 3d scanning, rapid prototyping (3d print), CAD-CAM support
